hmm how many stages does the A-125 phase shifter have? and how wide is the bandwidth (at +/-1dB)? i´m probably the only one that asks these questions :) /martin

IIRC, its 6 stages. i was hoping for a wider bandwith with less phase-distortion something like figure 5 in this article http://webpages.charter.net/wa1sov/technical/allpass/allpass.html /martin

Hi Martin either me do not understand what you are asking for, or you do not understand that the basic principle of an allpass filter IS the phase shift. It is the reason why someone is building an allpass filter. Or do you mean "phase distortion" as: deviation of the "real (measured) phase shift over frequency" from "the ideal phase shift over frequency"? If the latter is the case: I fear there is no voltage controlled allpass filter that suits your (a littlebit academic) requirement. Simply because you will not be able to trim 12 variable stages to exactly the identical characteristics. You should also obey, that the page you are quoting speaks about a static phaseshifter! From the musical and sound-engineering approach, this kind of phasedistortion is irrelevant. Florian martin sörensen schrieb:

hi yes it's a littlebit academic :) i'm using my doepfer in combination with a argon-krypton laser to make visuals :) the thing i'm looking for is a static wide band 90° phase shifter (90° shift from 40Hz-1kHz) /martin

Hi Martin > the thing i'm looking for is a static wide band 90° phase shifter (90° shift from 40Hz-1kHz) ok, then all classic audio phasers are not usable for you. Because the OTAs have a too wide variance. If you do not need voltage control anyway, then build the circuit as described in your link. May be there are other circuits to achive a static phase shift over a wide frequency range. But I do not know them. Florian

Hi Guys, I hope you all had a good Christmas. I have recently started building a small modular in a 9U A-100 suitcase. I would like to add a Analogue Systems RS35 module. On the Analogue Systems web site it states that if you add one of their modules to a doepfer system it will void both the warranty of the module and the rack. Looking at the warranty info on the Doepfer site I cannot see anything about this, apart from the worrying line "Any repair or opening of the unit carried out by unauthorized personnel (including the user) will void the warranty." which cannot be valid for modular systems surely? So I just wondered should I worry about adding this module or just go for it? Thanks for any help Andy [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

hi Andrew, you can of course mount AS modules into a doepfer case, but watch out, because you need a special converter ribbon power cable in order to put an AS module into a doepfer case. you can buy this cable from the AS website, or from analogue haven (US) and probably from many other modular outlets. also, some AS modules (mostly the digital ones) need +5 volts supply that the doepfer case does not supply by default. thanks, Bakis. Hi Bakis, Thanks very much for the info. As have the module and the cable in stock so I am ordering one, I will let you know how it goes. I will check the RS35 doesn't need 5V as well, my guess is that I will be ok. plus, there will be a small aesthetic issue: there will be an 1HP gap between Doepfer modules and the ASystems modules. Doepfer sells an 1HP blank plate to fill this gap. Actually it is a 1/2 a HP - doepfer sells the 1.5HP panels for that. Andrew - it is because Doepfer has their holes .3" form the edge of the metal and AS has theirs .2" from the edge. and a HP is .2" - The hole to hole spacing on the panels themselves is fine though. -James
