Trigger sequencer

Trigger sequencer

2011-10-17 by thomas_escure

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if the trigger sequencer module is going to be released one day. I really hope so !
In my opinion there still aren't enough sequencer modules in the Eurorack Modular world...

Regards,
Thomas

I am with you on that Thomas.
They showed the A-157 prototype a long time ago, but i haven't seen any info or what feedback they got anywhere.
It isn't even mentioned on the Doepfer Future Models page.
What i could find is what i wrote in this blogpost:
http://patchpierre.blogspot.com/2011/02/most-wanted-iv-157-8x16-step-trigger.html

I am looking forward to it's release and am secretly hoping they will release that module together with some Doepfer A-100 drum-modules... :-)

Or am I the only one looking forward to Doepfer A-100 drum-modules btw.( A-117-2, A117-3 etc. ,together with the introduction of the new knobs?)
I don't want to spam my site too much (sorry Bakis) but something like this :
http://patchpierre.blogspot.com/2010/11/most-wanted-ii-drum-modules.html

Do we need / can we have a poll on this perhaps?

I wonder what Dieter's view on this is.

Greetings,
Pierre Serné / PatchPierre / NetPierre

It was just my personal request, there are no drum-modules announced by Doepfer (so far )

So far there's the Concussor set from Analogue Solutions, plus coming soon are some modules from Tiptop Audio, as well as Din Sync's Drumdokta. It'd be great if Doepfer made something along these lines too, but I'm not sure if there's enough of a market to warrant such an endeavour?

It will definitely come ! At present we are waiting for the new pcb
prototype with 16 x 8 buttons and LEDs. Our first plan to use two pc board
with 8x8 buttons and LEDs did not work because this would cause a gap
between the steps 8 and 9 because of the space required for the pcb
connectors. Our plan is to separate the 16x8 button/LED board from the
control unit as it seems that there are two groups of users: those who vote
for a simple, easy to use (and soon available) version and those for a
"sophisticated" version with additional features (probably with LC display
to handle all functions). The plan for the simple version is to have only
two clock/start/stop inputs available (clock #1 for the units 1-4, clock #2
for 5-8) and a simple memory management (similar to the TR808). For the
"sophisticated" version there are plans like independend first/last step for
each row, copy and paste functions between rows and memories, right/left
shift of complete rows, longer patterns (A, AB, ABCD), maybe intros, fill
in's, track programming, more than two clocks and some more. To handle these
additional functions probably an LC display and additional buttons will be
necessary. But these information is very preliminare. One could use the
standard control unit at first and then replace it by the high end version
as soon as it is available.

Best wishes

Thank you Dieter, that's good news !
I will definitely take the simple module, even with a single clock input and no memory management !
That would be a VERY SIMPLE version. But maybe for the simple version people still want more possibilities...
As far as I'm concerned I always prefer simpler modules that can be combined to make things more complicated (the common modular way of thinking, I think) but I'm not the only customer !

Anyway, thank you very much.

Regards,
Thomas

OMG - I had no idea something like this being planned. What a great addition to the A-100 system! The 'sophisticated' version sounds mindblowing and makes me think in the direction of Yamaha's Tenori-on. I simply can't wait for the release of the sophisticated A-157 - consider 1 unit pre-ordered Dieter :-)
best regards
Jakob
