thanks bakis, for the great news. it's nice to see doepfer take heed
when you suggest ideas to them. i will be buying 4 of these puppies
the minute they are available. i am thrilled at the propect of having
this filter in my arsenal, but a little saddened that the regelwerk
and schaltwerk still are not being developed further since the
upgrade was mentioned and discussed before this amazing filter came
to their attention. i just wish someone would see the importance of
having the ability to do tied notes instead of a constant barrage of
16th notes all the time, not musically inspiring or useful.

oh well, still keeping my fingers crossed thatr some better judgement
will prevail, if not, my schaltwerk and regelwerk will be retired
from the studio and on the ebay block they will go. the MPC 3000 and
Encore Electronics Expressionist Midi 2 CV is a much more powerful
combo right now then those 2 machines, which is a shame.

Re: info about the super filter! from doepfer.

hi bakis, here is an excerpt from the doepfer hidden page.

>Maybe a voltage controlled filter selection will be used or
>switching with up/down buttons and control inputs (like the ERWIK
>design) or even both.

now this is very inspiring stuff. the possibilities for sound design
manipulation are enormous. imagine throwing a long envelope or multi
stage envelope to the vc filter selection input and having an lfo or
another envelope controlling the vc input of the resonance. drooling:)

would the vc filter selection input be stepped or smoothed or both
with regards to the final output? basically will the final output
sound of each filter be morphed together seamlessly?

will there be a way (memory) to select the order in which the
different filter stage outputs will be outputed thru the final output
vca? i.e how many stages get outputted and how step stages could you
have in a row?

will there be an output header card or pin connector to have a
companion module for the multiple filter outputs?

needless to say this opens up the doors to a lot of new filtering
options and possibilties. i am salivating at the thought having this
type control. hope it becomes a reality.

let's discuss this more thoroughly and see what what happens.

hi ringmod,
here is the link to the only one ERWIK filter module
that has been left in the swedish synthesizer network
company: http://www.analogue.org/network/matrix12.htm
study it...
BUT the doepfer/erwik filter module will have more
filter types available...
bakis.

Re: info about the super filter! from doepfer.

hi bakis, thanks for the info, like i said before i missed out on the
last Erwik filter from the synthesizer network, i was a couple of
weeks too late. :(
i asked if they would do another run and they said it was quite
possible, but at close $500 for a cem based filter i had to stand
down. i wanted 4 of them, so at that price if i throw in an extra
$1000.00 that's the price of a Matrix12. that's a no brainer.

hopefully the Doepfer one will be more attractively priced and
hopefully will have some of the features i mentioned in my last post.

maybe we should do a poll to see what featues people would want on
this most amazing new filter. what do you guys think?

bakis, would it be possible for you to foward these suggestions to
mr. Doepfer. thanks and happy patching.
