The capacitors C1 and C1' (factory value 47nF) define the pulse width. As
47nF corresponds to about 50 ms you may use e.g. 4n7 or 3n9 or 3n3 to obtain
a width in the 4ms range.

The high state output voltages of the module are close to +12V (unloaded).
If that's too high use a simple voltage divider made of 2 resistors.
