A-106-6 XP VCF - am I missing something?

A-106-6 XP VCF - am I missing something?

2014-08-24 by David Kellett

As I wrote before I recently purchase my A-100 Basic System 2 from eBay.

I'm taking a Sawtooth out to the A106-6 audio in. Only from the 4L can I get any sound and this is with Lev at about 8.5 and above. Even then the Frq and Q make no change to the sound and it seems to me that I'm just getting a distortion effect. No other output produces any sound with any setting.

I'm puzzled!! I think this means the unit is faulty - but the eBay company I bought it from said everything was checked and working. They are replacing the faulty A140. But I don't want to demand a new A-106-6 if it's me not working it right. The A-120 VCF1 behaves exactly as I would expect.

Any insight is helpful,

David

Where would I get a CEM 3379 (I'm in the UK) - and is it really easy to replace? I've never soldered anything in my life!!

I've found a few CEM3379's on eBay but they do not have the same numbers after the 3379 part as the one in the A106-6 - would they be compatible?
