Frequency Shifter

Frequency Shifter

In the absence of a new A-126, does anyone have an idea of how to create a frequency shifter using existing Doepfer modules?

I think that's not possible because of the required dome filter. That's a special allpass filter that shifts all frequencise from
about 50Hz to 10 kHz of the incoming audio signal by 90 degrees). The rest of the job could do two ring modulators, the A-143-9 and
mixers.

But we are working on an new frequency shifter (A-126-2) that will include a squelch circuit. The A-143-9 or any other quadrature
oscillator (e.g. the planned A-101-4) can be used as external quadrature oscillator (i.e. no built in oscillator).

Best wishes

Thanks Dieter,

I know it's a stupid question but will the external oscillator be patched via the front panel? I don't want to have to make a connection between them internally.

Yes, there will be two sockets for sine and cosine input. But there will be probably also a normalling solution (i.e. internal
connection between the A-143-9 or A-101-4 and the frequency shifter module via the switching contacts of the sine/cosine sockets).

Best wishes

Amazing thanks! There's a lot of excitement over this from people I've spoken to, as it's such a unique sound but they want to get a Doepfer module to do it with.

Regards,

Neil

That's great, that begs for misuse :D
Curious what sounds that will result in....[?]

Just what I was thinking!! Imagine running the A-137-1 into it, or a graphic VCO...
