email discussion between bakis(me...) and dieter doepfer: > hi dieter, > so,that means that if i accidentally connect two cv outputs, will i destroy > the modules????(i have done this mistake, some times...) no, please refer to my last message: " ..... As there are short circuit protected circuits or protection resistors in the outputs of all A-100 modules you cannot destroy anything within the A-100 by connecting two outputs but the outputs will no longer work as they should....." > also,of course, you can mix two a155 cv outputs with an a138 mixer, right??? no. This would "add" the CVs and that is not what you want. You have to switch unconditionally as one of the 8 steps of the A-155 is always adressed - even if it stops (e.g. at step 8) while the second A-155 is active - and the corresponding CV of step 8 would be added ! It would be necessary to switch the unused A-155 to 0V and even this requires a VC switch and would have no advantages compared to the solution with the VC switch that is used to switch between the first and second A-155 outputs. > one more question:dates of availability of the a102,a109,a197 ribbon Trautonioum manual (A198, not A-197) will be available about end of November (English manual will be not yet available at this date). The A-102 and A-109 are included with the next production series. I hope they will be available in December, but if there will be any problem during the production (e.g. missing parts) it will take until January 2003. > controller, and OF THE TOUCH KEYBOARD SEQUENCER????? due to the many different, partially contradictory/conflicting suggestions (not only from your group) we have problems to decide which version we should manufacture. The announcement of the A-154 made the discussion still more complex as some customers mentioned that all the features of the A-154 should be included with the Touch Keyboard Sequencer too. It is really very difficult for the TKB to find a solution that satisfies all customers. We never had such a problem with other modules. This is why the TKB is not yet available and it will still take some time. Our schedule is to wait until the NAMM in January and then decide the final version of the TKB (how many rows of potentiometers, arrangement of the potentiometers, number and type of inputs, outputs, LEDs, buttons, sequencer features, MIDI yes/no, polyphony yes/no and how many, design of touch plates like a keyboard or all of the same shape like the Serge TKB, and - and - and ....) > also,WILL THE A107 MORPHILTER AND THE A154 SEQ CONTROLLER BE RELEASED FOR > SURE???(about when??) Both will come definitely. Only the features, prices and dates are not yet fixed. As soon as the final features of A-154 or A-107 are fixed we will start the development. For the A-107 we already have a prototype but not with the morphing feature but only manual switching between some filter types, the types are fixed by different resistor/capacitor values and not variable with VCAs as for the final version. The A-154 is only "in our heads" so far. But as we are familiar with PIC solutions (e.g. Pocket Control/Fader/Dial) the development of the A-154 is not really a problem for us as soon as the final features are fixed. P.S. Today morning revised again the A-154 proposal: An additional switch is used to select 8 or 16 step length. And this is how it works: Provided that two A-155 are connected to the A-154 one has two possibilities: parallel (8 steps) or serial (16 steps) operation. In both cases the A-155 will run in parallel but in the 16 steps mode an A-150 VC switch is used to switch between the CV/trigger/gates of the first A-155 (step step 1...8) and the second A-155 (step 9...16). The A-154 has an additional output available (labelled "9...16/A4") that is used to control the A-150. This solution requires no modification of the two A-155 controlled by the A-154. concerning your message in the group: > hi joe, > when you connect the a154 to the a190,all the > functions/controls of the a154 work(vc/manual running > mode selection,vc/manual step adressing),except the on-board vc clock. right. > the on-board vc clock still works > but as an individual clock source, that you can use to > clock anything else...........another sequencer,a s/h > module, etc.this is where you use the clock out jack. right ! > the on-board vc clock is internally connected to > the step input of the control section of the a154,but > when you connect anything to the a154 step in,this > connection is broken. right, so-called "normalled" or "normalized" internal socket connection. > so,when you clock the a154 control section from the midiclock via the a190,you > DON'T have pwm nor vc speed of the clock. right, vc speed of the clock would be a contradiction to the MIDI controlled clock. Either you want to have the clock MIDI controlled (i.e. in sync with the MIDI clock) or VC controlled (i.e. independent of MIDI clock). > AM I RIGHT ON ALL THESE,DIETER? yes. ... and here is my statement to another comment: > Hi Bakis, since the A154 will be addressing the stages of the A155's > directly. i would to like see a LAST STEP RESET SWITCH OR BUTTON > added the A154. > > Why? when you are using midi or the A154 controls to start and stop > the A155, you have to step thru all of the stages to the last stage > (i.e. step 8 or step 16) so it starts on step # 1 to be in sync. > > a simple but very useful feature. I think the "step 8 set" feature it is not necessary for MIDI control of the A-154. The A-154 will be designed so that it will work in the desired way if it is connected to clock out and start/stop out of the A-190 (i.e. start with step 1). The start/stop output of the A-190 that has to be connected to the reset input of the A-154 ensures that the sequence starts at step 1 as soon as the MIDI clock and start signal appears.
