JUST as an option, I use the electroharmonix V256. No voltage control (I haven't looked at the module so I don't know what it can do) but it sounds fantastic as long as you have a good mic (don't use a 57 or 58, get something like an AT2020). WAY better than microkorg, Korg M3 (built in) and several others I've tried.

I set them up on Wednesday night - mic into Fireface and then out via light pipe to ES3 and then back through ES6 with the Vocoder output. It is brilliant!! The Direface ES3 means I don't need something to boost the mic up to A100 signal strength. I was using a Waldorf XT as the carrier signal - the polyphony and the ability to get moving, bright sounds made me use the XT for my first experiments. I'm hoping to replace my voice with Shortwave radio sounds - but there is no signal in my studio as it is in the basement. I'm gonna need a very long arial!!Â

I'm quite bummed out about this. The A129-1/2 is totally unique.

The other vocoders are no alternative for me since they are not as flexible as the A129-1/2.
I repeat it again, I am not interest in using it with voice. And it's all about the voltage control and the swapping of bands and all those creative things you can actually do with a vocoder.
Anyone willing to sell his/hers to me can contact me offlist ;-)

My mic is an AKG cardioid- the number of which escapes me at the moment.

But I'm thinking of getting a contact mic to attach to the central heating radiator to get some interesting environmental sounds :-)

Ernst - it sounds as though we may have some similar interests. Do you have recorded music available? I'm in the early stages of actually recording anything - for many years I had decided not to record but now I'm having a go.....

Here is a track that can be purchased and the money goes to charity. I am involved with the practice of Movement Medicine hence the presence of the track here: http://www.movementmedicineshop.com/product.php?productid=308&cat=137&page=1

Yes, there is a lot of my stuff online on soundcloud>> https://soundcloud.com/ernst-van-der-loo
While you're there, there's also this one, which demos some patches I did>>> https://soundcloud.com/derheinrich-1
And there's my rather nihilistic dark ambient project on bandcamp>> https://nullvoidorder.bandcamp.com/
I am quite 'out there' probably for most people :D
