A-190-1 + A-191 questions / system planning

2015-09-11 by acgenerator@att.net

I remember reading somewhere that there was a conflict with having this pair of modules on the same bus board but I can't remember what it is and can't seem to find it now that I got a hold of an A-191. Before I start moving multiple modules around to create a second +5V rail, I wanted to check with the group. I have the +5V low cost adapter which at 100mA should cover both and plenty of +/-12V (PS2)

Is there perhaps a conflict of both being on the CV/Gate bus at the same time? If so, are there any easy fixes? e.g. altering the cable or removing the jumpers for the CV/Gate? Looking to know my options here so I can add them to my system planning rule list. Does this conflict exist if I'm only using the A-191 in Shepard Generator mode (my intent for the module)?

I'm also curious if the module actually uses the +5V in in Shepard Generator Mode or just MIDI mode?

I do not remember that there was a conflict (the module is out of production since 15 years).
The +5V were necessary in any case to run the microcontroller.

cool. Perhaps I misread something along the way and/or lumped the A-191 with the A-190 series of which only one can write to the bus at a time. Given the module is hard to come by I didn't want to mess it up.

now to load up on VCOs...

The A-191 had no access to the CV or Gate signal of the bus. It was connected only to -12V, GND, +12V and +5V.
