A160-2 problem

A160-2 problem

2015-10-06 by rayzermatic@yahoo.com

I just got a brand new A160-2 and I think I have a problem.
  • First of all, the jumpers on the back are all set default as it came form the store. (All jumpered except the two sets at the top that are to be left open in all cases.)
  • The top switch is set to Trg. (trigger)
  • The bottom switch is set to 2-128.

PROBLEM:

Every time i send a reset to it to start it at the beginning, the first clock pulse that it receives, makes all channels go high. After it does that, the module seems to works as expected.

The problem is, that the purpose of the reset is to signal all modules to go to their beginning mark. The problem with this A160-2 when it does this, all modules that are connected to it receive an immediate pulse throwing everything out of sync.

I have messed with the Jumpers, but it continues to do this.

  • Is there a simple solution?
  • Do I have a bad unit?
  • Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rayz

If I remember right we had a similar discussion in the group when the A-154 was designed. The question was if a reset pulse triggers
immediately the jump to step one or if the reset pulse only triggers a waiting state and the jump to step one is carried out with
the next clock pulse. The problem is that the immediate jump leads to the situation that the next clock already advances to step 2.
In the A-154 we decided to use the waiting state mode so that the next clock jumps to step 1. I suppose it's the same issue.

Please contact Christian Assall directly (software@doepfer.de). He programmed the firmware of the module and knows details.

Best wishes
