Doepfer MC100 small case raw psu problem

2016-11-28 by jaccoville@yahoo.com

Hello there,

Last week I received my third MC100 raw.
After putting in a module and plugged in the adapter the module behaved strange.
After measuring the voltages I noticed that the +12V pin was about +6V, the -12V side was good.
When inspecting further I noticed that the one of the two cooling radiators was hot , the other slightly warm.
The glue of the capacitors was loose so it felt all very wobbly.
Than I opened another MC100 and noticed a different board inside with 4 capacitors glued together and an other pcb layout.
Are there different versions?
On the broken PCB was written: version 1 2016.
A bit confusing.
I ordered a new one this evening from Thomann and made an ticket for returning the faulty one.
Glad it didn't break my new module.

Best regards,

Jacco Ville

That's strange. If you still own the faulty case please take a picture of
the pc board and send it directly to my email address (hardware@doepfer.de).
I'll have to check with the factory what happened. Pay attention that the
external supply (wall wart) has to be positioned outside the case in the
carton. Now and then we have problems if the supply is positioned inside the
case during transportation because then it may damage the parts of the pc
board (e.g. electrolytic capacitors, voltage regulators/heat sinks, pin
headers).

Sorry for the troubles

Hello Dieter,

Can't take pictures right now but do this at the end of the day.
Don't know which version this is but it
has two main capacitors instead of four. No voltage stickers on the case.
Will come back to you later.

Best regards

Jacco Ville
