try always to “discuss” patches suggested somewhere, instead of simply plugging while visually copying, you might find “examples” reporting oversights. Is the case of the 1st of the Application Examples printed into the A-190-4 manual at page 20:


You always have to think in terms of source&destination:
the wasp filter out (source) must be plugged to the 1st VCA input (destination)
as well as the 1st VCA out must be plugged to the 2nd VCA input
so the two yellow cables (starting from right) are misplaced in the picture

If you are at ease with english and reading - and want to give yourself a better basis for the modular thing - search for the second edition of this book

Ouch! It looks like this is an old graphic. The 142-3 is wired wrongly: at the upper VCA the in and out should be interchanged. In the pdf that is online (http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/A190_4_man.pdf), the graphic is corrected.
