1997 power supply

1997 power supply

2018-06-26 by lerake@yahoo.co.in

Hello,

In 1998 I bought two Doepfer suitcases, from Doug Wagner/Enport back when he was the US distributor, and just discovered that the power supply in one of them is marked as a 230V version -- see photo here:

The other is marked 115V, and they're both Power Supply I, Version 5, copyright 1997. I've been using both of them in the US all this time. Is it possible that it's marked in error, or would it actually be working with the US electrical system?

I'm thinking this might explain some behavioral weirdness (though I generally like electrical weirdness so I'm not complaining!) -- but wondering if it might be a good idea to replace it?

thanks,
Ernst

Are there stickers on the back of the cases that say the voltage and fuse type? It's possible that this PSU was converted to 115 after production, and the sticker may reflect that. It's easy to convert back and forth, you just need to change a few solder bridges and the fuse. Are the fuses the same? Finally, you can inspect the underside of both PSU PCBs and compare bridges.

AW: [Doepfer_a100] 1997 power supply

2018-06-27 by yahoo@doepfer.de

Hello,

if you have been using it so far without problems in US I suppose that the
supply marked 230V has been modified for 115V but the mark remained
unchanged.
In the A-100 section of our FAQ page you find details how to modify the
older supplies for other mains voltages (or how to find out for which mains
voltage the supply has been manufactured or modified):

"Modification of the A-100 power supplies A-100NT12 and A-100PSU2 for
another mains voltage (English, for qualified persons only)"

Best wishes
Dieter Doepfer
