A 157

A 157

2019-07-26 by ross_anderton@yahoo.com

I have not been on here in a while so apologies if this has been discussed already, but does anyone else feel as frustrated as I do over the total lack of progress with the A 157 firmware? It's been over a year since the last update, I emailed Christian Assal a while ago and he told me it was "on the back burner" this begs the question why was an incomplete set of modules released and I feel I have wasted my money as I could have put the money toward a Malekko Varigate 8+ (which does everything the A 157 can do and then some) Anybody want to buy an A 157 in perfect condition with no rack rash?

Absolutely agree; the priority now seems to be on polyphonic modules rather than finishing the 157 system. I too bought it on the understanding the features would be implemented and the fact I’m a Mac user means updating firmware is a total pain.

I’ve removed mine from my system and selling for the same reason. It’s a shame as I really want to support Doepfer but this, along with all of the modules I was excited about (Chaos, Fluctuating random voltages, Frequency shifter) appear to be on a permanent hold.

If the 157 is revived, I’d love to use it fully as intended but as of now it’s restricted in its function.

Neil, why don't you take a look at the A 157b alternate firmware, it probably packs more features than the A 157 was originally going to get and the updater has windows, iOS and linux versions. As it has so many features it is more complicated to use but once you get your head round it it's very good! It's still a work in development and the man behind it (Christian Rusche) is open to suggestions for more features in a future release. It can be found here:- https://www.rusche.ch/a157b

about A 157

2019-08-05 by yahoo@doepfer.de

Hello,

I have read all the comments about the A-157 thoroughly. I'm aware that we have problems to meet all the expectations. Obviously we underestimated the working time required to program all planned features of the module and also overlooked that the firmware for other modules (like A-190-5) had to be finished. I'll discuss with Christian Assall (he is responsible for the A-157 firmware) the possible options. I'll also contact Christian Rusche and maybe we will be able to establish a cooperation of "both Christians".

Best wishes
Dieter Doepfer
