a120/a108 comparable with rs100, sy01 and moog ???

a120/a108 comparable with rs100, sy01 and moog ???

2003-01-13 by selfoscillate <synaptic_music@yahoo.com>

hello guys,

is anyone here in this forum who owns a
rs100 from analogue systems, a sy01 from
analogue solutions and an original moog filter?

what do you think about them compared with the doepfer a120/a108?
is there a difference in sound and behaviour?
which of these filters do you prefer?

thanks

best wishes

I'm familiar only with the RS100 and the A-120, and the filters in Minis,
but I can tell you at least that the RS100 is much, much superior to the
Doepfer version, much closer to a Moog, and probably inferior only to the
Synthesizers.com version, which really nails it. The RS100 is a great
filter and I highly recommend it. So's the RS110, AS's multimode.

There's nothing wrong with the A-120 per se at all -- it's fine -- and if
you weren't told to compare it with a Moog you might think highly of it.
It's just that it really isn't very Moog-like.

Then again, even without the Moog comparison, the RS100's nicer.

thanks for the statement.
are you familiar with the rs360 too?
it looks like it incorporates three rs110 filters in one.

best wishes

the a108 is my favorite doepfer filter too.
i'm curious about the upcoming a105 ssm filter, because
the korg mono/poly is one of my all time favorites.

basically i find all filters useful, thats why i'm trying to get
them all. from analogue systems i only have the rs120 and rs500e
filters and i think they complement well with the doepfer modules.
thats why i thought about filters like rs100, rs360 etc.
the rs360 is especially interesting, but nobody seems to use it
a lot. the rs360 is a bit similar to the a127, which is
also a fantastic and well sounding tool.

the sy02 from analogue solutions is fantastic too,
i got it last week and i love this filter, just like my ms20.
but i never found anybody who can tell something about the sy01.

best wishes

hi list,
i have the rs100 and rs110 modules...but i can't say
that they sound better than the doepfer modules!in
fact, if i had to choose between the a120 lowpass and
the rs100 i would rather choose the a120!i haven't
directly compared them because i use the rs100 with
the rs95 vco's and the a120 with the a110 vco's.so,i
could only say that i like better the sound of the
a120+a110 combi (it feels warmer,maybe...?) than the
rs100+rs95 combi...then,again i ,only,have used the
rs100,rs110 for a month...
also,i don't have a minimoog to compare them with.
now,about the a108???i LOVE this filter!!!it's my
favourite doepfer filter so far...and it sure beats
the rs100,rs110!
but,i don't have the SY01(...yet ;-))nor the
syntheasizers.com modules.
