hello, i got my a102 today and it sounds really nice. but there is something strange with the resonance. the filter starts to oscillate very early, when the pot is set to approximately 2.5 !! i can't imagine that this is the way it should react. anyone else who owns an a102 already? best wishes self oscillate

hello s.o., i will be receiving an a102 in about a week!!when i have it i'll tell you my opinion about the res. pot response. bakis. --- "selfoscillate <synaptic_music@yahoo.com>" <synaptic_music@yahoo.com> wrote: > > hello, > > i got my a102 today and it sounds really nice. > but there is something strange with the resonance. > the filter starts to oscillate very early, when the > pot is set to approximately 2.5 !! > > i can't imagine that this is the way it should > react. > anyone else who owns an a102 already? > > best wishes > > self oscillate > > > > ===== synthfreak(parallel worlds) athens-greece [Doepfer_a100] group owner-moderator __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? hi list, the diode filter has a "strange" resonance response by default!if you read the doepfer a102 webpage ,you will see that this module has a resonance and filter cut-off that are not independent!!so,the fcutoff and the res. settings affect each other! so,it is normal! bakis. --- "antonhuber888 <yahoo3@bhbmusic.de>" <yahoo3@bhbmusic.de> wrote: > hello, > > it is the same with mine! > > greets > Anton > > > > > hello, > > > > i got my a102 today and it sounds really nice. > > but there is something strange with the resonance. > > the filter starts to oscillate very early, when > the > > pot is set to approximately 2.5 !! > > > > i can't imagine that this is the way it should > react. > > anyone else who owns an a102 already? > > > > best wishes > > > > self oscillate > > ===== synthfreak(parallel worlds) athens-greece [Doepfer_a100] group owner-moderator __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? hello, i know that the diode filters act strange, but with the a102 it is more than strange ;-) because of diode tolerances the filter slope changes with cutoff frequency and resonance. thats why it is named "diode filter" and not "24db diode filter". dieter doepfer explained this to me several weeks ago. the resonance and the cutoff also slightly change each other. when i compare the a102 with a rs500e, which is also a diode type filter, then the sound is similar, but on the rs500e the self oscillation begins with the pot at approx 8 just as usual. anyway, the a102 sounds really good, so maybe it is not that important. it was just a bit irritating to me. best wishes self oscillate (nomen est omen ;-) --- In Doepfer_a100@yahoogroups.com, Bakis Sirros <synth_freak_2000@y...> wrote:

hello, roland mayer told me, that the resonance behaviour of my a102 is normal. it just reacts a bit different, when compared with other filters. when i turn the cutoff down to lower frequencies, the oscillation appears later, with the pot at 4 - 5. best wishes self oscillate --- In Doepfer_a100@yahoogroups.com, "selfoscillate <synaptic_music@y...>" <synaptic_music@y...> wrote:
