War brings about many things, to rationalise the irrational... An historic
element to both past and civilisation. We cannot ignore the radical outcome
of this phenomena. I do not condone war, nor do i disagree, a truth is
omnipresent that cannot be ignored; good vs.. evil.... It is the
irrational streak against a sustained oppressive and dictatorial regime that
is in question, this sustenance holding on to selfish want may never evoke
change unless an inevitable conclusion presents. May I request time as the
alternative to WAR. I have, yet the history books read and only active
means of disintegration may prove to be the answer to a question we
desire...

All our for Fathers have fought and still here are those that should be...
And so?

Good will always...

Couldn't agree more. Due to bad feet I didn't walk long but I was there. I
have also had a chance to say ir to our goverment, but they are true
politicians and I don't expect them to do much more that float with the
current... jsut hope the flow of the EU goes in the right way... Sweden will
follow =)

There is no force, state or even president of the US that is good or evil per
say;) It is those misconceptions that leads to violence, prejudice and war.
I do not in any way belive that any kind of evil can be justified by a
higher cause, no matter if it is in the name of god, prophets, democracy or
love. Only actions can be evil or good as I see it and if the act is evil in
itself it is no less evil to me in what name it is commited.

I vote for peace at all times.

50,000 people in Athens was a wonderful turnout, bakis. I hope you
didn't get tear-gassed.

As the justification for this war changes every couple of weeks, we
can only conclude that this would be a war for the sake of war
itself.

Re: THE PEACE DEMONSTRATION.

At least yours flow. Our Dutch politicians responded to the peace
marches with deciding to offer our ports, airports and trains for US
military transports way ahead of the EU pack (as usual), while there
is a vast majority in Holland against unilateral action by the US. I
heard on news the first transports are expected today.

At least we can laugh about it because we know what state our
transport system is in....

That's Dutch democracy for you :-(

I saw the pictures with the Acropolis with the huge banners in the
newspaper today. Very impressive.

I can't see any reasons for killing at all. I am against deathpenalty, but
on the other hand I think deathpenalty should be punished with something
like "lock em in an throw away the key".

I quote Yoda on this one "war leads to suffering, suffering leads to anger
which leads to the dark side" I would translate dark side with terrorism,
which in turns leads to war... its just a big circle. If there is any good
in this sorry state it is to see that Germany finally has seen the light.
Sadly it took a whole lot of misdeeds on their end to come to that
conclusion;)

But, perhaps we should leave this thread now and make som peaceful music.

Re: THE PEACE DEMONSTRATION. -

2003-02-17 by code_pig <code_pig@yahoo.com>

I might be alone here, but...

I thought this forum was supposed to be about Doepfer modular
synthesizers, and not people's political rhetoric and personal
opinion on world events.

I can go anywhere to get my fill of left-wing this, or right-wing
that, but I come here to read about a musical instrument.

Far be it from me to tell you how to run your forum Bakis, but
shouldn't we point things back in the right direction?

hi kevin,
ok,you're right...but some things are TOO IMPORTANT,so
a word or two about them isn't bad at all.
anyway,back to modular speek!

I think that the solution is more modular synths. If people are busy patching,
they won't have time to fight.

Save the violence for video games!

Exuse me if im off topic here...
but Scott made me do this,

Scott! -first of all you should not blame us (europeans) for what
our governments says (cowardness or diplomacy.?), I dont hate
all Americans but your leader is a fxxkt up son of a bxxxh! that has

Hmmm. It DID happen in my country. I didn't think it was funny.

Stop the war.

Curious that people see this as a left wing or right wing thing, when
the events of the weekend clearly show that its neither.

IMPORTANT THEN again remember history, who bailed out
all of your European countries with money, food and
lives. Once again you cowards should be ashamed of
yourselves. If you have so much time on your hands why
don't you put it to good use. When was the last time
you help out a homeless person, helped out a friend or
just looked in the mirror and asked yourself why you
hate us Americans so much. Freedom is great I love it.
I love my country!

Now let's get back to what this list is about or start
a new one if it is so important.

I forget to say not that I ever wish anything on
anyone. But it would be fuuny to see if 9/11 happens
in your country. I'm sure all of you cowards would
feel the same and march for the terriorst to forgive
them. You people sicken me.

Can we please stop this. I don't like to be called a coward by someone
who's obviously not in the mood to have a reasonable discussion.

Bakis?

RE: [Doepfer_a100] Re: One more thing THE PEACE DEMONSTRATION. -

2003-02-17 by unknown freak

Allow me to say that Scott's views aren't representative of myself or any
other Americans I know. I'm afraid a great many of the characterizations
floating around lately regarding America's leadership and foreign policy
stick. Loyalty to "American" ideals is actually in many cases diametrically
opposite loyalty to the positions being advanced by this administration.
War atrocities are war atrocities whether inflicted by foreign nationals or
ourselves. The loss of life associated with an American invasion of Iraq
could be catastrophic. The vast majority of the killing in that instance
would by Americans. Wherein lies the vaunted American moral superiority if
Americans rush into another country and take upwards of 100,000 lives,
brutally and relentlessly?

There's also a case to be made, however, that Europe's reliance on the
defensive backing of American military might has caused a certain degree of
atrophy in its sense of responsibility for itself, which breeds a mood of
detached analytical superiority at extreme odds with the realpolitik of the
world. In its foreign policy (and its domestic policty) the Bush
administration is in many ways a worst-case scenario, but several European
countries are not exactly in their finest hour as to their leadership
either. To their benefit, none is saddled with and is making a mess of the
responsibilities of a superpower (or hyperpower as the French would call
it). But those responsibilities do exist.

Re: [Doepfer_a100] Re: THE PEACE DEMONSTRATION. -

2003-02-17 by Andreas Lindholm

I actually thought this was all over, but it seems it is not. For all of you
who don't care about world peace, please just stop reading here... the rest
bare with me =)

I find a tone in the whole of this message quite detestable. The world owe
nobody nothing. As a fellow member of the list so cleverly wrote, if we all
we just patching(knitting or whatever) there would be no time over for war.
It is people who constantly try to impose some kind of "order" or prefered
way of living that somehow start this kind of messes. If peace if leftwing
or whatever, count me in, but quite frankly I don't belive in any dogm I
just try to live by the rule do to others what you want them to do for you.
If you think about it that is damn easy to do. No I am as Bakis wrote
considering a VERY IMPORTANT THING to voice my opinion about not starting
another bloodbath. Dear Scott believe me I would go marching if it was you
life on the stake too, just beacuse I hope that if somebody someday would
consider to bomb the shit out of Sweden some "crazy" fellow would protest
somewhere else. I don't hate americans any more than I hate the people of
China or whatever, but I do detest the warmongery in you current
administration.

hi martin,
i AGREE with you 100%!

and some things for scott...(the really "brave"
one...):yes,you're right scott!we never had a 9/11 in
our country...only 400 years slavery to the othomanic
empire and the first and second world wars...(in case
you don't know ,"wars" are some bad things that last
for YEARS AND KILL THOUSANDS!!!)but these doesn't
count,right?oops,and a seven year
dictatorship[1967-1974](with many dead people as a

Right. I didn't mean to kick a wasp's nest.

Let's get it sorted out once and for all. Why doesn't everyone come
over to my place, stop the childish name calling, and have a cup of
tea and a joint?

Good. When should I start expecting people?

I feel similarly. I love my freedoms granted by the contitution and the
bill of rights. I love the principles on which my country was founded. I
am an american, and that is why I felt strongly enough to be at the SF
march yesterday.

I see my rights being slowly eroded to serve impotent
boosts to soccer-mom's sense of false security. I see the democratic
principles of this country being smited by a powerful allegience between
this nation's rich elite and it's politicians, thus circumventing the
regulating system of checks and balances.

All of this is happening under the rallying cry of "9-11". Yes, "9-11" was
a sad event, one for which the perpetrators must be punished. But frankly,
every independent investigation is being squashed or tainted by Bush and
company, and this does not give me the impression that they are sincere in
their attempts to bring the proper people to justice. They merely seem to
be directing this great nation's fear and anger where they wish,
regardless of wrongdoing.

I would rather see a 9-11 type event happen every couple of years because
our freedoms that are in place restricted our intelligence agencies than
to have said freedoms removed.

I cannot endorse an approach with includes "pre-emptive strikes" with no
legal provokation.

No matter what we've done for the countries of the world in the past, this
foreign policy is not only a recipe for disaster and unrest, but is an
affront to the basic ideas of civilization itself.

I cannot stand by and watch all this without standing up and saying, "this
is wrong". *That* would be un-american.

If you think differently, that is your right as an american, but please
don't paint the picture (like much of our media does at the moment) that
you are speaking for america as a whole.
