about the A109.

about the A109.

2003-02-17 by Bakis Sirros

hi list,
does any of you have bought the a109???i received it
some days ago and i find it very good.(regarding it's
price,anyway...)
the filter and panning section are excellent, but the
vca section is not to my liking so much(it has the
same (distorted) sound ,as the newer a130/a131, when
you krank up the input knob...
but, then again,i like the filter distortion...
any opinions???
bakis.

I'm waiting for Enport to tell me they are available.

How would you describe the filter?

It seems like you get stuff before they are released bakis, mind telleing us
how?

Just curious cause the a109 is nothing for med so I am not jelous ;)

But if there will be a graphic VCO or anything like that I would very much
like to have it before bakis! Just because that would mean getting it way
fast.

But as speaking of filters does anytbody have the 107 yet? That seems like
the filter to have. I almost ordered the 108 but now I will most surely
order the 107 unless it gets unearthly expensive, the erwik filter that it
is based upon was a tad too expensive for me.

hi andreas,

is already available weeks ago...
and,no,the a107 isn't available yet...(i,too,want
this!)
the filter sound of the a109...?:warm sounding with
some distortich resonance....if you turn down the
freq.cut-off knob and up the resonance knob.

still desparately waiting for mine to appear - I ordered it in a new
rack about a month ago :-( The A109 seems like an ideal space saver
and I undertsand that the filter is supposed to respond like the
A122 'Oberheim' one - together with my new A127, it should be a
pretty flexible combination!

Is there anyone out there with an Oberheim that can testify to the
authenticity of the A122 (or A109 filter)?

Re: about the A109.

2003-02-18 by selfoscillate <synaptic_music@yahoo.com>

hello bakis,

i got the a109 in january and i use it quite often.
the filter sounds nice, just like you said.
the vca is ok to me, when the level pot is set
to approx 12 o'clock position. for me personally
i like the ability of boosting weak signals and therefore
the vca is quite good (when used separately without the filter).

the doubled cv inputs are very handy, that is something i
also would like to have in the a107. dieter doepfer told
me, it would make the a107 slightly more expensive,
but in my opinion it would be worth the price.

best wishes

self oscillate

Hi,
I don't have an oberheim but I think the a122 sounds just like my
roland mc202. I have many filters (a120,a121,a122,a123,a124.a127)
and the a122 is my favourite, very smooth sounding.

John.

I thought the mc202 uses also the Roland IR3109 chip, which is a relabeled
SSM-Chip, not a Curtis CEM3320.

Hi Florian,
Yeah it doesn't sound exactly like the mc202 filter but is similar.
A thin smooth filter is how I would desribe it.

John.
