If anybody is interested, there is the buchla
vactrol based low-pass gate:

That is from peter grenader's DIY pages.

Enjoy!

Bakis,

Pass on to Dieter that the Fender Rhodes and Fender amplifiers use
LDR's for their tremelo, and the LDP's are completely sealed units.
Might they be of some use?

Kevin

DIETER SAY:
"I will rummage for my old documents as I made some
vactrol designs about 20 years ago (filters, phasers,
a guitar "vibrato", VCA). One was a triple filter with
a separate LFO for each filter similar to the A-127
and was called "grawler" (don't ask why I choose that
name). Another was a VC phaser similar to A-125 but
with 10 vactrols instead of the FETs of the A-125. I
can remember that it was a little bit a problem to
protect the LDRs (light depending resistors) from
light not coming from the corresponding LEDs resp.
bulbs. As far as I know each LED/LDR combination was
protected by a cap and the cap as well as the pcb area
below the LED/LDR were painted with black color to
seal the device against light from outside. But no
problems that we could no solve. Only a little bit
labor-intensive.
Best wishes
