Doepfer

hello,

could someone let me know if the doepfer a-100 uses the +4 dBu or -10 dBV
"line" standard for its outputs?

none of the outputs are balanced, right? (also the A-181, although it has a
TRS "stereo" connector instead of a TS "mono" connector?)

would it make any difference to use balanced "stereo" cables instead of
unbalanced "mono" cables when connecting the a-100 to a mixer with balanced
line inputs?

a balanced or unbalanced cable shouldn't make any difference when 
connecting the unbalanced a100 to a balanced mixer input.  it'll always be 
unbalanced.

not sure about the output db specs but i connect my a181 to mixer line-inputs 
via unbalanced cables and get good results, plenty of level.  however, when 
recording i always connect the unbalanced output of the a100 to a 
transformer balanced direct box, then connect the DI's balanced mic level 
output to a balanced mic input on the mixer or outboard mic pre.   seems to 
have slightly better headroom and lower noise that way.  biggest benefit of 
using a good DI though is improvement in detail and tone, especially w the 
low end.
