Hi all,
OK, I may be reading this wrong but it sounds like a standard ribbon controller. This is great as I refuse to spend money on an old Moog one that is expensive and possibly worn out.

The only key thing I would like to see is a range switch, i.e. 1V, 5V & 10V to make it more usable and maybe an attenuator for the pressure output to save using another module.

Because an old Moog unit will set me back anything between 450 - 800 euros, I would not be adverse to paying a fair price for a modern equivalent.

Regards

David

hi list,
dieter doepfer says:

"I'm very busy at the moment and so I cannot give you
very detailed info about the Trautonium-like
controller at the moment. As soon as the prototype is
working I will put a message on our web site. It is a
position sensor (used in the industry) similar to a
ribbon controller with about 50 cm in length. We are
about to develop an electronics that outputs a Gate
and CV signal as soon as you press your finger
somewhere on the sensor stripe. The Gate simply turns
on/off and the CV corresponds to the position of your
finger. Unfortunately the sensor is very expensive
(about 100.- Euro) and we have to add the electronics
and case and of course we want to earn a few Euros
too. Maybee we will add a pressure sensor under the
position sensor (the same as used in the sensor
keyboard) but I think this will not be ready for the
Frankfurt fair."

any comments, thoughts about this future product??

If I read the message from Dieter correct, then the new controller will be
nearly in the same price range :-(

Lets hope so

Nearly means tending to 400EUR to 500EUR.

So, the controller hardware costs Dieter 100EUR, there is the additional
electronic on board and a housing, lets say in worst case 100 EUR at low
number of produced pieces. Gives 200 EUR only for the material. Usually you
have to double this to get a minimum of a reasonable customer sales prize.
This is 400EUR. And - sorry to say - there is already the kurzweil
ExpressionMate (see http://www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com/html/expmate.html).

Btw: I don't think you have to be a prophet to say that kurzweil did not
become rich with the Exprssionmate.
