hi list memebers, i just went to the doepfer site to check out the
new a100 modules. i think they are good additions the a100 system. i
posted a reply to the schaltwerk post. now i check out the new
products below the A100 stuff and just about had my brain fall off
its shoulders. IT ABSOLUTELY MAKES ME SICK to see the time and effort
that goes into making and marketing schaltwerks and regelwerks with
blue f.... led's and silver edition pocket control with blue led's.
a silver finish and blue led's are not going to help me to tie notes
together instead of having a steady stream of 16th notes coming from
the cv and gate outputs. i don't know about the rest of the world,
but i like to make music that has whole, half and maybe a quarter
note in one bar of music. you can tie notes on the A155 which doesn't
have a CPU, but heaven forbid you can do that on the MAQ16/3,
Regelwerk and Schaltwerk which have a CPU, where a few lines of code
would solve the problem. what the machines really need is a solution
to fix the software and hardware inadequacies present in these
machines. it makes me pale to see them left hung out to dry while
these new versions come out. the question is, what is more important,
blue led's and a silver finish or a clear and solid OS that makes the
machines work properly or how about a machine that is not choked by
having less memory and a slower cpu for a machine that has room for
expansion with a little extra memory and a faster cpu. i feel that
corners have been cut, when they should not have been. someone,
please help me out here, i feel like i have been jooked a little bit.
or maybe i am having a flashback from a place that never existed and
this is not the real world.

anxiously waiting for something to happen,
RM

hi list members, i don't even bother with the doepfer ez board
anymore, but after i wrote those posts, i decided to check to check
it out and see if there was a glimmer of hope. i am not dreaming this
stuff up. please read the doepfer ez board posts for yourself and do
tell me i am smoking some wack shit. here is a post from the doepfer
ez board to prove my point. remember people we are in the year 2002.

Reply I still check every once in awhile for a new OS

I used to own a schaltwerk, but I sold it... I spoke with doepfer in
1997 about getting a new OS with some of the often requested
features, and I was told it would happen soon (within the year), well
it's been 5 years and nothing ever happened.

Instead they give us blue LEDs

I would consider getting another Schaltwerk if it had note duration
capability (also a rotate seq, and auto pattern save)... too bad.

keep poking them though Roman, it may happen some year!

cheers

Why not just use a MIDI to CV converter for your synth you want tied notes
with and get on with your business?

What is this remark about?

2002-02-22 by Andreas Lindholm

Is this about the new A198 having no point or about the designflaw in
shaltwerk/regelwerk? I am not sure...

the thought behind my posts is why is should i bring other boxes to
do a job that could and should have been implemented in the first
place. notice how all 3 of their sequencers only send 16th notes in
duration. when i do live shows i want to keep gear to a bare minimum
to avoid hang up's. carrying around a mid2cv box and cables, plus
another sequencer think about. less machines equates to less
possibilities for error and it is more compact.
