wish 4 a offset generator

wish 4 a offset generator

2002-02-28 by martin olson

Hi group/Bakis, i wonder if its just me or if anyone else thinks that it would be nice if Doepfer released a offsetgenerator-mixer-attenuator-like-module. I need this to change the polarity of modulation signals (lfos with only negative going voltage...etc), I know theres the A-129/3? but its 4 the vocooder... I think this is really a basic module that every complete modular should have... or what do you think??? create a new poll???

Hi martin

> offsetgenerator-mixer-attenuator-like-module.
Very good idea. We had this suggestion here already half a year ago.
Until now, I modified my linear mixer module that way, that the lowest jack
is connected via its switching contact to +5 Volts. This helps already a
little bit.
But a general attenuator / amplifier / offset generator would be great.

The schematic is very simple. It is mainly the mechanic affort.

o.k.,i will create a new poll, but only if you explain
to me what difference will this new module have from
the a129/3???
thanks for your input

The attenuator/offset for the vocoder is available, but expensive. Why
not just use an A138a mixer and the CV source module, like I do?

great suggestion (duh). makes sense for fine tuning vibratos,
etc, such as moving a vibrato(lfo) to stay above the osc pitch
rather than symmetrical all the time. but would this work for
negative offset values? such as vibrato movement BELOW the
osc pitch? can you get a negative value from the CV source to
mix w lfo?

When I need a negative offset, I patch the A176 CV Source thru the
A175 Voltage Inverter.

All I can say is that you are right, I have the A-129/3 and use it most of
the time to increase gatesignals from other machines and to tweak
cv-modulations. This is a great standard module that is more useful in the
system as a whole than in the vocoder(although it is good there too). So my
advice is - BUY ONE or even two! How's that for a critic of the system?

/Andreas

Re: wish 4 a offset generator

another way to achieve negative voltages is to change a jumper
setting in the a176 pcb and make the pontesiometers send a voltage in
the range of:+2.5 to -2.5.also another cv cource in the a100 system
is the a155,just stop it in the right step...also the a129/3 if you
connect nothing to the input cv and turn the offset knob to the right
will output a constant voltage, right???,this way you have 5 cv
sources in one module(i am not sure,i haven't try it).if you want
negative voltages just patch a voltage inverter in between or you can
use the invert function of the a166 logic module for the same task...
hope this helps...
bakis.

Re: The A100 is good... doepfer gear not always

2002-02-28 by synth_freak_2000

hi andreas,
now a request:
please, go to the polls section and delete the last choise of the
poll that you created(the one about making fast bucks and so on...)i
find it insulting for me and doepfer,too...because it seems ironic to
me(correct me if i'm wrong)
some explaining:
i don't care if doepfer releases 1,2 or 800 versions of the sensor
keyboard,i just made the poll with 3 imaginary versions to make
things easier...one version is enough for me...also,i asked for a
blue keypad(not many versions with many different
colours)...also,dieter isn't interested just to make fast bucks,he
likes what he does ,that's why he does it for more than 20
years...and has never signed his gear...r.a.moog has,by the way(the
moogerfoogers,but it's o.k. with me...),so please ,erase the last
choise...
thanks

regards ,
bakis.

Just for the record, I think that the A100 is great, if the rest of the
doepfer line was that good I would have no problem at all.

andreas,
i meant option 4....so, why don't you want to erase it??you are the
one that said something about politness and this option with the
irony of yours isn't polite, don't you agree??
i hope that i explained to you some things about the many
versions,and,and,and...
please explain to me the reason for this irony.
bakis.

Are you sure about that, what will you vote for then? Personally I feel that
every vote needs a na answer to both ends of the scale. If there is an
option for nothing there should be one for everything. Although I admit
there is a bit of irony in option 4 which is the second last option. Nope,

Changing votes.

2002-03-01 by Andreas Lindholm

I guess somebody will indeed vote for that option so why take it away when
somebody perhaps want that option. Of course I could rewrite it in a more
positive tone, but I have no heart feelings about blue LEDs, colored cases
and stuff that adds little to the usability. So it is a statement, not
intentionally made ironic, but I can see from your point of view that it can
be. If anybody else asks for a rewrite and makes a good suggestion I can do
it.

BTW... if adjustments should be made I would like an option in the model
line to be "TKB with expansion slot" ;) But on the other hand there are
other votes with it so never mind.
