That way your sequencer completely replaces the keyboard. My Formant has separate 3 mm jack inputs for system-wide Gate and CV, and also External Gate inputs on every ADSR. The VCO's already come with external CV inputs. I like to be flexible :-) The fun part of building your own synth is the total control you get when you understand the schematics. Putting an extra input or output here or there requires very little effort.
