I would suggest you have a look at my ASM-2 design for which a pcb already
exists. This design has a lot of circuits that are similar to those used in the
Formant and also use more readily available parts (the Formant VCO will be the
most awkward to build).
Using the ASM-2 you can have your synth up and running in a couple of
weeks.
Best

Hi to you all,
My name is Kris Bishop, 25, Scottish, Studying Electronics and
Computing Engineering. Been playing synths for 15 years but never a
modular. I own Yamaha CS1X, Korg MS2000, Supernova, Korg ER-1, Es-1.
Well I'm in my final year and have been asked to design an digitally
controlled analogue synth. To save on time I am recreating the
Formant.
I've read posts about it being hard to recreate due to lack of
parts, however I should be able to overcome this problem.
Although I have a copy of the book from the net I drastically need
the original as I feel some parts are missing. Can anyone tell me
the name of the books and if possible where to buy them.
At the end of this project, May 2005, I should have a fully built
digitally controlled Formant. Also the board I build will be able to
be rebuilt by anyone as I will re-do the board layouts where
required.
Cheers
Kris Bishop
