hi there
does anybody own book2 or have pdf's of it? i cant find it on the web...
ive just bought a formant and it has a few book2 modules but ive only got book1.

also a technical question:
id like to instal a 'global' cv (and gate) input, (ie conected to the main bus, so i can
sequence all the vco's from an external sequencer).
can i just find the correct pins on the part where the keyboard plugs in and conect my
external seq to that?

thanks
colin

Hi Colin,

You can download the pdf's from the cloned analog gear
website. It's in the synthesizers menu:

Hi Colin

A global cv input is made easiest at the point where the keyboard is connected to the Interface printboard. You might experiment a bit and keep the keyboard connected too. Maybe you need an extra buffer like IC7.
I seem to have never made this global cv input. I think it is more fun to create different paths within the synth. One vco sequenced and another keyboarded.
Another way is to make multi-patchcords: one plug with three or more cords and plugs coming out. That way you can connect the sequencer to the ecv inputs of every vco and or filter.

Have fun
gerards regards

I used the 2000 book and I use the bus for power and gate etc, I connect a
midijack cv and gate input straight in to the bus and had no real problems
yet, but you may wish to have a buffer, I'd check with synhouse about the
capability of the device.

Welcome.

Replying to a somewhat old post... hope it not too out of date..

I do exactly what is described below(multi patch cord with three
plugs on one end for my CV from my sequencers, however I have NEVER
mangaed to get the FORMANT ADSR's to trigger once I took them out of
the original FORMANT synth, and tried to make them "seperate
modules". Now I never really understood the point of the
little "interface" board that went between the keyboard and the
synth, and I took it away... is that my problem? If I reinstated it
(in regard to the wiring of the ADSR modules)(no need with the VCO's
they work the way I descibed above) could I then get my adsr's to
work from an EXTERNAL gate/trigger from a seq?

adsr

2006-10-21 by Gerard Bik

Hi Mark

The interface board supplies a clean +5 v gate pulse to the adsr modules. I guess when you apply this gate pulse to the correct point on the adsr connector/pc board, It should work, internal or external.
My adsr modules have external inputs on the panel, but that appears not to have been standard.

Hi Mark,

I have brought the gate in from the ADSR to the front panel and added a
switch to toggle between intern and extern gate. Works fine. i. e plug
an lfo in the extern gate and you have a repeated adsr.
Global cv and gate: Just bring the bus out and install a switch to
toggle between intern and extern.
