LFO range & questions

LFO range & questions

2011-11-29 by sirolffoonav

dear,
my formant lfo potmeters have a weird range:
slow and very usable from zero (8 o'clock) to about 10 o'clock, but after 10 o'clock it gets fast and it goes faster towards the end of the knob.

is this normal?
what to do about it?
it would be handier if the rate slowly evolved into fast towards the ed of the knob.

the module is fed by a tiptop uzeus ( +-12v )

and compared to my mfos vclfo the formant lfo output is a bit weak (low)
anything i can do about this?

thanks for the help, floris

Hi Floris,
First of all, check if there are log pots for the range, and not lin pots.
Also, is R17 checked according to the building specifics? That is the most important component in terms of LFO speed. You say slow and very useful, but not how slow. It might be that it is not slow enough, giving the LFO the wrong range.
The Formant modules are designed to run off +/- 15 volt power supply, so powering them off a 12 volt supply will make the output slightly lower in amplitude, as you have noticed.
