Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

I am having problems getting the foot switch to work.  I am using a 
single pedal, generic Roland footswitch.  When it is inserted into 
the footswitch jack, any note is held indefinitely until the 
footswitch is depressed. (Exactly the OPPOSITE of what needs to 
happen).  Any ideas out there?  I have looked for an Ensoniq 
footswitch, but can't find one.  Please help!!
