AW: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] VFX SD Help

2005-02-11 by Hans Artmann

Mike,

Ad 1. The SD-1 uses the same disk format as the SD. I use a SD-1 and a
SD in parallel myself

Ad 2. Whoever is willing to lend you a hand would like to know more
about the extent of work, how many tracks, lenghth,...

More important: before sending your disk away you might want to make a
copy of it.
For a good way to do so have a look in the file section of the group.
You'll find a toolset there that lets you read out your floppies and
either copy them or store them to disk. What I'm saying is you could
send the disk by email whats much more secure. You'll also be able to
determine if there are corrupted sectors on your floppy and which sounds
or sequences are affected. Could save you some surprises...

Hans

Hey all.

I was an electronic music major in college and I did three of my
major composition pieces on the VFX SD. I still have somwhere my
disk of sounds. I have two questions:

1. Are disks that were formatted and have VFX SD data on them
readble by the SD-1? The reson I ask is may consider purchasing an
SD-1.

2. Would anyone be willing to lend a hand with a project I am
working on? I would like to send you (the person who says they can
help) my disk with all my sounds that I have programmed from scratch
and the sequences I have that use those sounds. When the person
receives the disk I would like to have them take each sequence and
record it to a 16 bit 44.1 khz wav file one track at a time. There
is a method to my madness: I would like to take the pieces I did
while in school and re-mix them in surround sound.

Please let me know if anyone would have the time and knowledge to do
something like this. I could pay a few bucks plus a Audio DVD when
I'm done with my project and you will be fully credited in the liner
notes.

Thanks,
Mike

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
