VFX vs. SD1 compatibility

I have an emergency question. A SD1 has come up for sale in my 
area. I would like to know if I can plug my VFX sound cartridges 
into the SD1 and play my old VFX programs with it. Just plug in 
and go, or would I blow the thing up? 

  The SD1 has no operation manual, is there on online that anyone
knows of?
