Ashe,
The "VFX" never had a disc drive, It does use sound cartridges. When
they came out with the "VFX-SD" that is when they added the sequencer and
the disc drive (hints -SD). I have owned both of them. I would buy the
VFX-SD if I were you, it's just a lot more versatile and mechanically built
better than the "VFX".
