Your VFX won't show by name in your PCs (or MACs) MIDI setup. What you should see are named MIDI ports for MIDI-In and MIDI-Out. I havn't seen Traktion but don't confuse controller, as a keyboard, with controller meaning a special type of midi messages. There should be settings somewhere to define the 'MIDI device'. As for MIDI-In they should refer to physical MIDI ports you have in your PC, e.g. one named MPU-401 might refer to the MIDI connection made through the game port of your sound card. Depends on the type of MIDI adapter you have. Internal? External? USB? ...RTFMHans-----Urspr\ufffdngliche Nachricht-----

Betreff: RE: AW: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Midi to computer recordingHey, thanks Hans. I have a P4 2.4 GHZ with 2 gig of ram. In Traktion 2 there is a menu for creating midi controller mappings. I'm not sure, but I think this is supposed to recognize my connected VFXsd as a controller> It doesn't. I just thought maybe I was ignorant of the correct midi settings on the VFXsd. If you or anyone else know about this, or something else that might help I'd appreciate it. By the way, I don't have a manual for the VFXsd.

Sounds pretty basic ...
If you want to get into this you might want to educate yourself a bit
about MIDI. Try Google with "MIDI tutorial". One of the first figures
e.g. in http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tutr/whatmidi.htm shows how to
connect your equipment.
You didn't say if you got a PC or a MAC. However, you need a MIDI
interface and a pair of cables. More specific qestions and some details
what you've tried helps to get answers. RTFM helps too.

Hi. I have a VFXsd and would dearly love to use it as a controler for
my Mackie Traktion 2 software. I can't get the software to recognize
the existence of my VFXsd. I am practically brain-dead when it comes
to midi implementation. Is there anything you can tell me that might
help me get this done?
