I just open the foodswitch and moved one pole and now it works.

The difference is whether the footswitch is "normally open" or
"normally closed". Normally open would not conduct electricity
("off") while the pedal is up, and start conducting ("on") when
pressed down. It's the opposite for a normally closed pedal ("on"
when up, "off" when down).

I can't remember, but I think the VFX likes normally open pedals.
Obviously, whatever your pedal is, it's the opposite of what the VFX
wants.

Some gear, but not the VFX, can adjust for the different pedal wiring
styles.

Some footswitches will have a polarity switch on them to change
between normally open and normally closed. That's rare, but I think
I've seen it. If there's a switch, flip it and try.

Some foot switches (my ensoniq SW-5 dual footswitch, for example) are
designed by the manufacturer so they internally have both normally
open and normally closed switch contacts, and the wire for the cable
or jack is soldered to the correct contacts for the device it's
connected to. What I'm saying is, if you (or a friend) can handle a
soldering iron and can get the pedal open (such that you can
successfully put it back again), you might be able to modify the pedal
so that it will work.

Otherwise, you'll have to get a different pedal.
