I seem to recall that if you've pressed one of the softswitches to 
select a voice and that voice only has MIDI on, you'll get nada 
locally. Make sure that the routing is not MIDI only.

Select the track, and then press the MIDI button. It'll show you the 
MIDI status. If it's not either BOTH or LOCAL, playing locally will do 
nothing. BOTH plays locally and sends too; LOCAL only plays on the SD1; 
MIDI sends but doesn't play locally and plays incoming MIDI; *EXT* 
sends but doesn't play locally and ignores incoming MIDI. My guess is 
that you want a LOCAL track. You may need to add one more track that 
has the proper MIDI setup just for what you want to hand play (in LOCAL 
mode).
