Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Polarity reversal on sustain pedal?

2006-06-29 by Bob S.

I think for this one you have to reverse the connections on the switch (use the other contact opposite the common center)......some keyboards use NO (normally open) switches for sustain and some use NC (normally closed)....

Subject: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Polarity reversal on sustain pedal?

Hi, I'm a recent member to your group (as in, today...). I acquired a
VFX synth (not an SD, unfortunately) from a relative, and I'm really
enjoying it. I ordered a manual online, and am still waiting for it
to arrive. However, I am desperately seeking help on a particular
issue, namely, that I plugged in my YAMAHA sustain pedal (basic 1/4"
single ring plug, works on my other keyboards) to the pedal input on
the back of the module, and the polarity appears to be reversed. So,
when I depress the pedal, it causes the sustain to turn OFF. I've
searched through every option on the MASTER screen, and I can't for
the life of me find a way to reverse the polarity. My only discovery
seems to be that it's meant to use a dual-pedal unit. Can anyone help
me out with this terrible problem? I'm aching to start using it and
this single problem is standing in the way of my total and complete
enjoyment. Thanks!
