Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Hello,
My VFX is in a pretty good state but I am experiencing the keyboard calibration error a little more than I would like.  I suspect this is the split motherboard faulty connector problem and was wondering whether it was worth attempting to fix it myself.  This would require taking the keybaord to bits I know and I haven't a clue how to do this nor what kind of wire to best use to replace the faulty connector between motherboard 1 and 2 which I think are at the base of the keybaord case.
Can anyone furnish me with step by step instructions on how to effect this repair.  Haven't found anything other than very general summaries of the fix on the internet so far. I don't think I will want to attempt it unless I have some pretty detailed instructions to go on as the keyboard is worth far more to me for nostalgia than for money.
