2 Unrelated Points For Reference : Sustain was Contiuous, now works. and Battery

2010-06-05 by keysralph

This Is Just for reference, in case Someone has the same issue, at some point.

Although i Have Been Ensoniq Through VFX to SD=1 in BC Canada, Maybe 1989/90, and SD-1 around 1990/91 in Seattle, and the early VFX models Gave their Share of Hangs, they gradually got more reliable, Here, in the UK, with my Ensoniq SD-1(32voice), which I Have Had Since Maybe 1992, I Had Never Had any Problems with it, after maybe 19 years of use, except the 5 year backup battery died after maybe 15 years, but I delayed replacing the Battery, or converting the battery to a Battery Holder, until 6 months ago.

Point One Is That I Had to Use Electician tape to hold the Battery into this New Battery Holder. There was no mention in the instructions, as the battery falls out the holder very easy, hence the tape needed. A Friend took it appart with me and soldered the parts. Also, Was tricky getting welding to hold, so was glad I did not try myself, as I Would have messed it up, like I Have Messed Up a number of PDAS.

Point 2, maybe unrelated, is that
A Couple of Days ago, I Turned on my SD-1(32voice) (I Did Not Have a sustain Pedal Plugged In), and I found all sounds were sustained. I Played different sounds, like Organ etc, and all were continuously sustained, even after restarting etc.
I Then took my stereo Headphones and plugged them into the Sustain Socket, pullud it in and out a couple of times, expecting it to be in vain, worried I might have lost my SD1, But, by Magic, it suddenly started working properly. The Headphone Socket cleared the problem../

All the Best... :-)
