about your post re "failed" Ensoniq floppy drive. Most people never 
think to simply clean the floppy drive head.

I use an old verbatim "wet" cleaning pack for 3.5inch drives. (don't 
think you'd see too many around these days, but they must be out there).

They are a disk shell with a cleaning cloth inside that you drip alcohol 
(the non-drinking type!!) onto, then insert it in the drive. Let it spin 
for 30 seconds or so, and either the drive will spring back into life, 
or you'll need to buy a replacement from the moderator of this group. (Rich)

And as far as SD-1 "sounding like a VFX", sorry, the SD-1 has 16 bit 
DAC's MUCH cleaner!!  Much better machine. BUT... Love 'em all!!!
