Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

hi,

I'm becoming more and more familiar with the sequencer, but let's say I need the countoff before the song start, but I don't want to hear the horrid "click", but the classic drumsticks or closed hi-hat 4/4 precount (1 bar), what do I have to do? 

I thought I could just record a song track with that single bar precount using a drum sound (sticks, hihat, ride, whatever), but song tracks are as long as the whole song, the song being a 'collection' of step whose patterns of course are not 1 bar long, but usually 4 or 8 or more bars, otherwise I would have used a 1 single repetion step with muted tracks, to have the extra bar before the song actually stars... 

I'm asking because I would like to avoid wasting a sequence/song location, since there are only 60 available...
