yep
sounds like "noise" on the data fader
which is the equal to noise on a audio POT
which is usually dust/dirt but could also be wear on the physical surface

i havent had to clean any of mine on the vfx , but i assume their easy to get at?
and try cleaning fist with a TV tuner type liquid

other than that , a replacement of the slider would need not only phy size equal but resistive value equal
