Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Im selling my VFX SD II

2003-07-06 by Ralph Stokes

Hello Hans,

I have an SD1 32voice, not for sale, however I can confirm it rarely
ever crashes. I have had it for 10 years, or so, and it crashes maybe
once, or twice a year. I have never changed that internal battery, they
tell you lasts 5 years.

Having worked up though the different VFX range, since early 1990, in
Vancouver, with the first and second generation VFX's (Leasing them),
then using the first generation SD1 in Seattle, 1991, and now the 32
voice since 1992, which I bought.

I had major crashes with the first VFX, the second one still crashed a
fair bit, but at the time, there wasn't anything like it. (Except the
Korg M1 that I had previously been using in Arizona. but Memory cards
were a hundred US dollars each, I think, so I used it with a Roland
MC500 sequencer).

As for the SD1, there weren't as many crashes.

But as for the 32voice SD1, this is fantastic. When I first got it, when
I was converting my older disks to 32 voice, there were a fare number of
crashes, but since doing so, it has been close to perfect. (Having said
that, if you non formatted disk in, or a faulty one, the SD1 or VFX may
crash shortly, if you don't do a soft reset, by holding down preset, and
pressing the top right black "Soft" button above the screen. As I always
do this after a bad disk, I don't normally get crashes.

I use 4.10 software.

All the Best...
