Way back when, you could buy an upgrade through your dealer. The way it worked was that you brought in your VFX-SD and a bunch of money. The dealer sent it off to Ensoniqland and you waited. After a period of time, your VFX-SD returned with a new SD-1 main board installed in place of the original VFX-SD board. Also, the keyboard calibration error 'fix' was applied, if necessary. At this point, the instrument was a VFX-SD in label only -- it now contained the heart and soul of an SD-1. That said, a 'converted' VFX-SD uses the sequencer OS and patches from the SD-1 (version 4.x, I think). -Geren -------Original Message------- > From: tim sullivan <timsullivan@...> > Subject: Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Sequencer Vers. 3.10 needed for VFX-SD > Sent: Sep 02 2003 16:15:50 > > there's a way to UPGRADE to SD-1 ??? > using what , firmware or chip replacements ??? > > if anyone knows , reply back (route66?) > > tim sullivan > Geren W.
