VFX Sys Initialization Errors - sound familiar?

VFX Sys Initialization Errors - sound familiar?

2004-03-05 by gottamakethings

Hey fellow VFXrs,

After 10+ years with VFX-SD, I finally have gotten it to break!!!
Here are the symptoms:

I moved it to a jam session the other night the same as I always do,
the weather was mild and keys weren't in the car that long. when I
turned the unit on, I went to Seq and got the Sequencer Not Loaded
message. Then I tried repeatedly to reload the Sequencer but
everytime I hit Disk:Load it woul come back and say "System
Initialization Error 179" Now maybe it was 79, I don't remember. I
tried everytning, turned it off and on, banged it a few times. When I
tried the same operation without a disk in, it did know to say "no
disk".

Thank God the presets worked and i could play! So the next day, I
brought it home, turned it on, reloaded the sequencer and it worked
fine. The next night I turned it on and left it on and when I came
back a few hours later it was constantly resetting with a "System
Initialization Error 33". Flicking power , it straightened out and I
had to reload sequencer and it worked for the next couple days.

I took it apart and looked for anything obvious. I measured the
battery, still up at 2.97 volts.

My baby is getting flakey. Any ideas?????

Dan

Try totally recallibrating the VFX, back up your sequences and
sounds before doing this, it will erase everything. Should work.

Please, I know I could RTFM, whats the secret handshake?

I looked everywhere for the secret handshake, but I am not sure which
three fingered contortion causes a full recalibrate.

thanks

You have to take your right shoe off, then standing, turn around to your left
three times being sure never to look either up or down and whisper this
phrase once and only once:

"If I ever find out I will never forget"

or...........

You can simply turn the power switch on and then press the "Preset" button
along with the upper left "soft" button on the top of the display - then respond
correctly to the question.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
