Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Greetings fellow users........I recently acquired a used very 
cosmetically clean VFX-SD.  I've ordered an os2.1 sequencer loading 
disk from two different sources hoping to get at least one on the 
dd/ds floppy ready to load right in to the disk drive. After 
pressing 'storage', then selecting 'disk'(with disk loaded), when I 
press 'load' it tells me DISK DRIVE NOT READY. I'm hoping it's 
something simple, but please some one give me a diagnosis(either 
sugar-coated or right between the eyes). Thanks

   All OS data is only load-able by floppy disc, if you have a OS disc that is formatted for the VFXSD and contains the OS data and it's not loading then you may have a bad drive.

 Be sure of what you have purchased, an OS disc image file saved to a DSDD floppy will not load but is intended for use in the Giebler EDM software for making copies on the PC. Check the disc by loading it into the PC and see if there is any data on the disc.

 If you purchased one from Route 66 it is in VFXSD format and ready to load into the unit, if your drive is bad check with Route 66 for a replacement.

did You Try To format A DD floppy First? If You Have Problems By Formating A 
Disk And Copying Sounds To It, Probably the Problem Is the Floppy Drive. If 
The Copy works Fine, Then Its The OS floppy disk

If the disk fails I would check the floppy cables before changing the
drive. Sometimes it helps to remove and reattach the connectors.
