Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Digest Number 527

The 120 sounds on the ensoniq never seems to be enough, but with the cart you can pretty much get all your favorites on the vfx at one time, a great bargan for the price. Buy soon, I think cesium only has one or two left and you will probably never find one for that price again. If you don't like it you can always sell it on ebay and make out. As for the sounds, they are nothing special, and if you have some of the free sets a few of those sounds are probably on some of these, but for ten dollars more, still a bargan. Also I got the carts within 3 days after calling cesium. Unbelivable in the world today.

I want to buy some Programmable EEPROM Cartridges for the SD-1 from
Cesium Sound. Does anyone out there know how many sound banks each
one can carry (so I can decide whether to get them with or without
sounds)? Do they fit into the normal cartridge slot? What
advantage do I have using them instead of disk-drive disks? Please
help. Chokani.

One cartridge stores 60 sounds and 20 presets. The programmable EEPROMs
can be overwritten, i.e. you can store any sounds and presets you want.
The sounds that come with the cartridge can be written to INT and then
saved to disk. That way you could restore the original content of the
cartridge any time.
The storage scheme is: DISK <-> INT <-> CART
The advantage of a programmable cartridge is that you have an additional
set of sounds and presets while sounds on disk have to be loaded to INT
before you can use them.
I hope this helps
Hans
