Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Hi all. I just got myself an SD1 (in brill condition) and the the OS 
disk that came with it says OS version 3.00. I've seen on the web
that 
the last OS version made was 4.10, but what is the differance between 
3.00 & 4.10?. Is it worth me upgrading and if so, should I download
it 
on to the OS disk that came with the synth(this disk has extra sounds 
ect on it)will it just over wight the OS files?.

Check which EPROM version you have (PRESET + MASTER). If you havn't got
a 4.10 there, which is unlikely anyway, you can't use the 4.10 OS disk.
There's no point upgrading the EPROM unless you find a dealer who swaps
your chips. There was a time when this was provided for free but I'm
afraid these times are gone.
I can't tell the difference between the versions (bug fixes? new bugs?).
