I have no idea.  The VFX probably wasn't *designed* to charge
rechargable batteries; the power connection you found was probably
intended only to supply power to the battery circuit when power was
on.

I'm tempted to say it's not likely that harm will come from this, but
it's really quite beyond my area of expertise.  (I can usually read
schematics, but I don't *write* them.)
