Highly Desired Patch....
2006-07-24 by Harry
Thank you for all of the information, eveyone. I do not have a cartridge, so I cannot access any violin patches. I tried to stack waveforms and it just did not work well, so it looks like I will be without a violin patch to use. I also have a SQ2 32-voice synth and used the same parameters when trying to make the violin on the VFX, but I just could not get the timbre and voicing right to make it believeable. I ended up even trying some of the waveform waves and Transwaves and it just did not sound convincing. That is okay, maybe one day, I will find an SQ-R or SQ-1 32-voice that I can take to my gigs as well, if only for that patch. It has been fun though hearing the same patches I remember on my VFX-SD when they came out with the SQ lines though. We all remember the Merlin patch on the VFX, and there is the same patch called Mystic on my SQ-2. I have been able to transfer a lot of patches over to the VFX from teh SQ that I used since I did not have a VFX fior such a long time. I know that my VFX boards are not the SD-II models. One has a build date of 12/07/89 and the other VFX has a build date of 3/27/90. The one in 1990 has had the keyboard mod done, but the other one has not. I will eventually get it done on the one built in 1989 so they are both reliable on stage. I also modded a fan for thh one I use live and it works great. It is a little computer fan and I just hooked up a 12v power supply (hooray for Radio Shack) and it works great. I wound it around the regular power cord for the VFX, so they both plug in at the same place. I would have gotten the cooler fans from Richard at Route 66 Studios, but he was still out of them:(. Anyway, that is all for now. Take care, all, and when the addy is given or the Zip Code is given for the get-together up in WI, I would like to see if I could make it, and we could all jam up there.
