FS: SD-1 (late) and other goodies
2007-03-21 by Grant Youngman
I have a very late SD-1 purchased locally in Dallas from Brook-Mays in 1992, not long before they were discontinued. (My luck never changes!). It is in perfect playing condition, and 9.9+ physical condition (near perfect, but not perfect), the only real issues being some wear on the labeling for the power switch (where my hand rubbed too many times) and a bubble in some of the overlay glued-on plastic trim. Never been outdoors or on the road. Always inside and racked on "Ultimate" workstation hardware (which I may also be willing to part with). I have the Ensoniq CV pedal, single foot switch that shipped with the SD-1 and a VFP2 dual footswitch (best accessory ever!). Also 2 Carts and all of the Ensoniq standard patch sets (vsd-1000 thru 1004) plus the Australian Collection on disk, plus original OS disks, etc. (Package deal only -- not for sale individually). All of the original manuals and documentation. I replaced the battery last year as a preventive maintenance item -- and installed a socketed version, so it will be a lot easier for the next guy some years down the road. After nearly 14 years, the original battery was still good. No glitches, noise, or junk. No keyboard or controller problems. That's as of today -- this is used equipment so there's no telling what will happen tomorrow. But it has been a reliable and totally trouble free workhorse. And actually very lightly used for the last 10 years. I'm HIGHLY BIASED towards a deal for pickup in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Packing this for shipment (I do have the original carton, etc) would be a real SOB in any case, and potentially risky or expensive to do it right. I have no idea what this is worth. If you're interested, drop me a private email (nq5t@...) or give me a call at 214-629-8759 anytime and I'd be happy to talk about it, schedule a demo, discuss price, etc. If you want it shipped, propose how you would manage that. I do have an eBay id -- "nq5t. Feel free to check out the feedback I have in that venue as both a buyer and seller. As an aside, I was recently in a local Guitar Center bying some midi cables and tried out some of the newer keyboards. For the most part, the SD-1 holds it's own really well. There's still a lot of expensive cr*p for sale out there :-) Grant
