Broken Aftertouch

Broken Aftertouch

2007-10-23 by Marty Kolakowski

Hi, I have quick question. How do you shut the aftertouch off an
Ensoniq SD-1? I have a key that is giving full after touch unless I
hold it half-way down. I would like to shut off the aftertouch until I
have the board serviced. Any advice where the option is located would
be appreciated.

Thanks

Marty

Marty,

I asked a similar question over a year ago and no one responded. The only
difference is that with my VFXsd, it happens on all of the keys and is more
noticeable on some of the brass sounds like the alto sax. This sort of came
up all of a sudden. I even tried to reseat all of the ICs and connectors
with no luck. I had to turn it off for each sound and save it in my
presets. Please let me know if you find out anything.

Thanks,

As mentioned, you probably have to turn it off for each sound. I've
had problems with the velocity on a small midi keyboard, after
pouring coffee over it (who would have thunk that). It was full
velocity on any key stroke on two keys. Besides that, those keys
lagged terribly, too. I got it almost fixed by cleaning it
thoroughly, opening it and detaching the keys and the soft rubber
bumpers on the board underneath the keys. Maybe cleaning everything
possible could fix your after-touch, too.

I think what has happend is the rubber pad has slipped of this key
and when pressed. I gives full aftertouch. I think I'll just send it
out to "The Soniq" http://www.thesoniq.com/ Sucks having to pay 75USD
just for a bench fee...

Thanks
Marty
